AVMA’s new reason for not feeding pets raw food

AVMA discourages pet owners from feeding raw petfood diets.

The basic premise of the new resolution passed by the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) is that raw food feeding exposes pet owners to salmonella and other nasty bacteria.  Oh please – so far as I know there have been a lot more documented instances of nasty bacteria contamination in dry dog food and food items destined for human consumption such as cantaloupe and hamburger patties.

  1. (From CNP): It’s just like human meat products: don’t make use of industrial livestock and the concentrations, and associated risks, of bacterial contamination drop dramatically.
