NatureBox

NatureBox (San Carlos, CA) is closer to Nutriate than the rest of what we’ve seen… but still some differences.  NatureBox appears to be snacks only and it’s not in packaging that would be convenient to carry into a conference, offsite meetings, trade show, or training session.  (Their web site says that they’re for home and office.)  I also don’t see any mention of organic / non-GMO or Fair Trade – though a checklist says “thoughtful sourcing”.  The price point for what it is is okay – but looks like a lower market to me.  Roasted Peruvian Corn Kernels, Sriracha Roasted Cashews, and Orange Apple Fruit Chews are the snacks currently featured on their home page – which doesn’t bode well for the overall nutritional value, Nutritionist approval notwithstanding.

Interesting that their box is somewhat similar to ours.  (The box shown in the Forbes article isn’t pictured on their website.)  They say that you can customize your box with selections from over 100 products and that they cater to various ‘dietary goals and taste preferences’.  You can’t see what the options are without signing up for a monthly subscription – the free trial consists of “Five tasty, pre-selected snacks”.  The free trial rolls into a monthly subscription – so they require an email address, mailing address, phone number, and credit card number.  You have to cancel to opt out of the automatic monthly renewal.

From their home page:

  • No hydrogenated oils
  • No artificial colors, sweeteners & flavors
  • No added sulfites
  • Less than 200 calories per 30g serving
  • Yes to high-quality, nutritious ingredients
  • Yes to thoughtful sourcing
  • Yes to innovative, unique flavors

Their office snacks page shows their single serving (“Select 4 of our favorite NatureBox snacks individually packaged for easyoffice enjoyment.”) packaging.  In that thread you start by selecting an office size of 10 – 40 or 40+ employees.  The 40+ size allows selection from over 40 snacks.  The featured snacks are: three flavors of oatmeal (in paperboard cups), Cranberry Medley, Mocha Almond Bars (looks like Kind Bars), Jalapeno Cashews, and Big Island Pineapple (dried rings).

They do make their corporate catalog available without signing in… but I had to poke around for it.  It’s not a complete listing (supposedly).  Only one meat option in the catalog.  The Guacamole Bites are interesting.  I’m not impressed with the selection.  Their bulk bag option needs a companion option for dispensers.

For the smaller office, you step through the menu to select two savory and two sweet snacks which are then shipped quantity 50 of each in a box for $185.  Those pages only allow selection – no ingredient lists and no nutrition labels.  Also, the photos are of the food rather than of the food in the packaging.  (The corporate catalog at least shows the ingredients and nutrition labels.)
