Nutriate Glossary

Nutriate Terms

satiator – noun.  An item that when consumed sates one’s appetite.  “A packet of nuts is a good satiator.”

Satiators abate hunger and carbohydrate cravings and/or satisfy a desire for a particular taste / texture – such as a craving for chocolate or for something crunchy and salty. The Satiator Meal sub-category includes First Night, Breakfast, and Snacks. The five Basic Taste sub-categories are: sweet, sour, salty, bitter, and umami (savory). Other mouth sensations closely related to taste include pungency (piquancy or hotness), coolness, fattiness, and numbness.

hydrator – noun.  A liquid comestible.  “Water is the ultimate hydrator.”

Hydrators make it easier to increase your water intake. Many hydrators also make consuming additional nutrients such as antioxidants more pleasant.

complementor – noun.  An item consumed with other comestibles.  “A splash of raw vinegar on your greens is both a nutritional and flavorful complementor.”

Complementors add interest to otherwise boring-but-healthful meal options (such as steamed vegetables or an unadorned green salad) and/or add nutrients such as fiber and probiotics.

  1. CNP on Satiator definition: Sounds too much like Urban Dictionary. How about:

Satiator: Nutriate food items that quell hunger and cravings while encouraging clear thinking and feelings of physical well-being.

Also, if you use “that when consumed”, it might make the sentence a bit easier to parse with a comma after “that” and after “consumed”.
