Baked Lentil Chips – Cracked Pepper flavor

MediterraneanSnacks-BakedLentilChips-CrackedPepper.pdf (application/pdf Object).

2012 June PEG: Tastier than the Sea Salt or Cucumber Dill flavors – cleaner taste – though the sweet notes are unnecessary.  I note the use of potassium chloride to give a salty taste without raising the sodium content too high; perhaps the sugar and maltodextrin are added in part to offset its bitterness.  However, this seasoning of this flavor includes autolyzed yeast extract.  After observing that the other flavors in this Lentil Chip product line do not include this ingredient, I’m going to eschew this flavor and move on to the Rosemary and Parmesan Garlic flavors.  (There’s also a Roasted Pepper flavor, but I have to steer clear of bell peppers.)  Mediterranean Snack Foods also makes a baked Lentil Cracker, but – unlike the Lentil Chips – corn flour is a primary ingredient.

  1. Note that ‘autolyzed yeast extract’ is a problem for many people with sensitivity to MSG (monosodium glutamate).
