Quinoa & Brown Rice with Garlic
The form factor – a microwavable pouch with a tear-off top and an accordion bottom enabling it to stand upright – was definitely convenient. Probably because a pouch contains two 1-cup servings, an eating utensil was not provided with the pouch. Following the microwave cooking instructions resulted in an adequate side dish. I would have preferred more al dente grains, more quinoa than rice, and less salt. I added a little black pepper and balsamic vinegar to freshen and jazz up the flavor. Excepting the sodium content the nutritional profile is okay: relegate this pouch to your the office and at home keep a mix of quinoa (and/or amaranth), French green lentil, mung bean, and vegetables grains in the refrigerator or freezer cooked using a microwave rice cooker or a rice steamer.
